Seattle Oncology Social Workers Welcome
AOSW 31st Annual Conference Attendees
Hi all, I’m Lynn Behar and I am thrilled that AOSW will be in Seattle this year! I have missed very few annual conferences in my 30 years in AOSW, and you’re finally all coming here!
When people visit Seattle, I always take them to the Chihuly Garden and Glass
where the work of our most famous glass artist, Dale Chihuly, is exhibited. It’s right at the Seattle Center by the Space Needle, a 15-minute walk or a 3-minute monorail ride from the Westin Seattle.
The Seattle group can’t wait to share Seattle with all of you. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Hi! I’m Tricia Matteson, MSW, LICSW. I work at the Swedish Cancer Institute/Issaquah Campus - a beautiful new hospital that opened in July 2009.
Issaquah lies approximately 15 miles east of downtown Seattle, and is a gateway to the Cascade Mountains. There are abundant hiking trails in the area, and I encourage conference attendees to take an excursion out of the city and explore this area which so wonderfully exemplifies Washington’s moniker as The Evergreen State.
If you aren’t a hiker, you can still enjoy Issaquah: Visit Boehm’s Chocolate Factory for some tasty goodies, take in a musical at the Village Theater (Cabaret will be playing in May), or hit the outlet mall a few miles further east in North Bend.
See you soon!
Hello! I’m Angela Lim and I want you to know how close you'll be to Whistler B.C., Canada–home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. It is beautiful year round, with breath taking views. There’s great shopping, restaurants, hiking and biking trails. A scenic 4 1/2 hour drive will get you there, but don't forget to bring your passport!
It is so exciting welcoming the AOSW conference to our region this year. There’s a great group of dedicated oncology professionals from local cancer centers and in our local social work organization, Oncology Social Work Network. We will share our knowledge in presentations, workshops, SIG meetings and as we meet each other throughout the conference.
Looking forward to having you here in May!
Greetings to AOSW Annual Conference attendees traveling to Seattle for the 2015 Annual Conference!
We are social workers at the First Hill Campus of Swedish Cancer Institute, also known as Pill Hill. We love our Seahawks and were a little crazy during the season… and of course during the Super Bowl (which didn’t work out too well). But we are ready for Super Bowl 2016!
You’ll enjoy the lush beauty of Seattle, including its parks, water and so much more! If you stay over the Memorial Day weekend, be sure to check out the Northwest Folk Life Festival held on the World’s Fair grounds. It’s less than a mile from the conference hotel and all activities are free!
