About the Webinar

Level - Beginner
Drawing from decades of experience in networking, education, advocacy and research, this webinar will explore what leadership looks like for oncology social workers in the current and ever-changing healthcare environment.

Three levels of leadership will be identified:

  • Individual-level Professionals ensuring patients have awareness of and access to psychosocial oncology services

  • Industry-level Thought Leaders - shaping psychosocial care in oncology and raising awareness of the needs and policy issues of people affected by cancer

  • Association-level Professionals - working to enhance the brand identity for oncology social work and augment the oncology social work knowledgebase

Participants will learn how to distinguish between authority and leadership, while exploring how oncology social workers can exercise leadership insight to mobilize others. Diagnosing leadership challenges – from implementing changes to psychosocial care delivery for those affected by cancer will also be explored. The webinar concludes with discussion of essential strategies for staying connected to purpose in a profession where compassion fatigue is real and self-care is of utmost importance.
